TOPIC: CD Rom Problems

Hey Willie,
My CD player just died. I have a music CD in it and it won't open so I can get the CD out. I tried re-booting my computer, but the CD stays inside and starts to play every time I boot up. What do I do?

Willie Says:
Get the smallest paper clip you can find. Bend it open and look for a tiny little hole near the CD tray. You can insert the paper clip into that hole and the CD tray should open. BE CAREFUL not to stick the paper clip into the headphone jack. And, be ready to get your hand out of the way when it does open.
After you have removed the CD, try defragging your machine. If that doesn't get the door opening and closing again, you are probably going to need a new CD player. It is a good time to upgrade to a CD burner too.
