TOPIC: Sharing with Other Users
(from Bernard)
Hey Willie,
I have my computer set up with two printers. One (the inkjet) is for my home / family use.
The other one (an expensive laser) is for my home business needs. The problem is that my family keeps printing out photos
and what not, using my laser. I am paying a lot of money for the cartridges and they are getting used up real quick. How do I
prevent everyone else from using my laser instead of the inkjet?
Willie Says:
Hi Bernard,
Try setting some ground rules. If they want to use the laser, they need to buy you a few cartridges for it first. That ought to slow
them down a bit, right?
If that doesn't work, you might want to set your machine up for different users and password protect that laser printer.
And, here's another idea:
Go to your list of printers & fax machines. Select the Inkjet as your "default" printer. That way, by default, the printer they use would
be the inkjet unless they actually select the laser printer each time they print something. Can't say it was an accident after this, can they?
