TOPIC: Video Monitor Locks Up

(from Samuel)
Hey Willie,
I just put a new video card in my computer and I am in trouble. The mouse is freezing on my screen and I have to reboot my computer to get out of it. And, the same problem happens again and again. What did I screw up?

Willie Says:

First
If you can do this before the screen freezes (or in Safe Mode with Networking) go to your mouse manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your mouse. What is likely happening here is that your mouse and your new video card are not communicating with each other. They are probably trying to access to same address of memory and corrupting the memory in the process.

Second
Your video card drivers may need to be updated. That card was likely to have been sitting on a shelf for a year and drivers are updated quite often. Go to the video card manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers for your video card.

Third
If you are using a wireless mouse, have you thought about changing the battery in it?
